Founder, DigiCrumbs
I built DigiCrumbs because I was about to leave for a long-term travel adventure and was worried about the logistics of keeping everyone updated.
The options were: spam multiple WhatsApp groups with the same photos, field endless "where are you now?" messages, or post everything to social media (which I wanted to avoid entirely - I had even deleted Instagram!)
Existing travel apps felt overcomplicated - automatic GPS tracking, social feeds, comments. I didn't want another Instagram. I just wanted a simple way for my mum to see I'd arrived somewhere safely, and for friends to peek at my photos when they felt like it.
So I built something intentionally minimal:
- • One tap to drop a pin and name your location
- • Add photos if you want, or don't
- • Share a single link and anyone can follow along without creating an account
- • They get a notification when you move somewhere new
And there you have it - DigiCrumbs! No feeds, no likes, no followers. Just a private map that keeps the people who care in the loop without the noise.
I would love to hear how you use it - whether you're a traveller, a family member, or someone who just wants to quietly follow a friend's adventure.
